Relate SWOT/C to
Malavath Poorna.
Malavath
Poorna's is an amazing achievement. Born into a family with bundles of
problems, she created history by being the youngest girl to scale Mount
Everest. Realising the values of her success as an inspirational event, a movie
based on her life and achievement was made. Her biography was also published
already. At the age of 13, she set her foot on Mount Everest on 25 May 2014.
POORNA'S STRENGTHS (S): Poorna has amazing mental strength. Despite being looked down
upon as being a poor one, a girl and of a socially low community, she never
lost faith in herself and her abilities. She has confidence and self- esteem.
She has her ambitions and goals clear. She has abundant physical stamina too.
She successfully faced a rigorous physical training of running, yoga, meditation,
etc. Determination and willpower in her are aplenty.
POORNA'S WEAKNESSES (W): She did not like milk. Yet, she had to take lots of milk
daily for protein-rich diet.
POORNA'S OPPORTUNITIES (0):
1) She got admitted into a government run Social Welfare Residential
School.
2) She got an excellent educator as her mentor (Dr. R.S.
Praveen Kumar).
3) She got an inspiring and motivating coach in Shekhar Babu.
POORNA'S THREATS/CHALLENGES / CONSTRAINTS (T/C):
1) Being born into a poor
(a) backward tribal
family
(b) as a girl
(c) in a remote village
(d) with no facilities at all.
2) She faced discrimination of all types, from everyone at
all levels.
3) On her way to Mount Everest, Nepal govt.
banned climbing Everest.
Poorna used her opportunities to overcome
threats (many) and strengths to neutralise her weaknesses (NOT
MANY-NEGLIGIBLE). Thus, application of her story to SWOT C serves as an
excellent model to apply the same to us.
